At its meeting, the Triton School Corporation board approved a series of routine business items: vouchers totaling $1,989,448.58 (which the board noted include about $500,000 in bond payments), minutes from the prior meeting and multiple personnel actions. The board recorded unanimous or 5-0 votes on motions brought by individual trustees throughout the consent portion of the agenda.
Personnel approvals included conversion of a full-time bus driver to substitute status (Alex Houtz Shell) and hiring Rochelle Meister as the full-time replacement; approval of summer school instructional assistants (Lisa Craft, Grace Pearson, Johnna Snyder, Casey Payton, Beth Linville); rehiring Annika Spangle as an elementary instructional assistant; cancellation of the contract for Megan Atkinson (junior/senior high English); certified summer-teacher appointments; classroom moves and new hires (Josh Taylor to first grade, Samantha Phoenix to fifth, Lexie Albright to second grade, Lori Thompson and Olivia Miller to junior/senior high language arts); and appointment of Terry Large as a new teacher mentor for a half-year pay period. All personnel motions were moved and seconded and recorded as passing by the board.
The board also approved the 2026–27 elementary student/parent handbook after minor clerical updates and then separately approved meal-price adjustments for the 2026–27 school year: elementary breakfast +$0.25, elementary lunch +$0.45, high school breakfast +$0.25 and high school lunch +$0.50. Staff and adult meal pricing were discussed and noted as unchanged or clarified during discussion.
In other business, trustees granted a Church of Christ permission to use a special-purpose bus for a CIY camp trip (June 21–26) and confirmed the church would cover fuel costs. The board confirmed one bus and approved that request.
What to watch: many of the motions were procedural and passed unanimously; the transcript shows the board will continue routine facilities and maintenance projects over the summer and listed key dates for registration and orientations.
Meeting procedure: all first references to movers and seconders were recorded in the meeting minutes (e.g., motions moved by Kevin and seconded by Steve). Vote tallies were recorded as unanimous or 5-0 for the listed actions.
The meeting adjourned at 7:54 p.m.
