Fairfield council reports Kite Day, dog‑park progress, Pippinfest plans and recycling turnout

At the April 28 Fairfield Borough Council meeting, members received several community updates about parks, Pippinfest and a successful recycling event.

Councilor Jordan Pileggi reported the Joint Parks & Recreation Commission will hold Kite Day on Saturday, May 2 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.; the dog park is open and the commission plans to install trees, benches and tables, with a grand opening to be scheduled to coincide with the first Music in the Park performance. The commission also is addressing damaged equipment along the walking trail and briefly discussed the possibility of dog racing in 2027.

Councilor Sally Thomas, reporting for the Pippinfest Committee, said Sherwin‑Williams in Gettysburg donated paint for the hydrant‑painting project; non‑Sherwin‑Williams paint that could not be donated amounted to $52. The hydrants are scheduled to be painted by Memorial Day.

Secretary Dianna Zimmerman described the borough’s Covered Device Recycling event as a success, noting 77 vehicles dropped off items for recycling. Councilor Camille Cline reminded the group of the Memorial Day service at the cemetery on Monday, May 25, 2026.
