The Bossier City Council on June 9 introduced a cooperative endeavor agreement with Red River Football Club that would let the professional team use the city’s soccer complex for practice, provide free clinics to local volunteer coaches and youth, and offer occasional community nights at club games.
Miss Ward and city staff explained the partnership as an effort to expand local soccer opportunities without disrupting recreational programs. "Our soccer program is really just for rec," the staff member said; Red River FC would add higher-level training options and run free clinics to help volunteer coaches learn drills. The club also would offer community 'Bossier Nights' where attendees wearing the city’s jersey could attend games, and the partnership is expected to help attract tournaments and out-of-town visitors.
Council members praised the initiative as a way to keep youth sports local and to bring economic benefit through events. The cooperative agreement was introduced on first reading and will return for additional consideration as required by city ordinance.
