Bossier City Council approves routine ordinances, funding amendments and administrative items

The Bossier City Council on June 9 approved a package of routine and financial items, adopting several ordinances and resolutions and introducing others for first reading. The actions included final adoption of the city’s 2026 ad valorem tax ordinance, an appropriation to complete emergency sewer repairs, amendments to the waterfront budget and a claims-service agreement, and approvals of administrative items such as the city’s official journal and meeting schedule.
Council members approved on final reading an ordinance levying ad valorem taxes for 2026, which the chair said keeps tax rates “what they currently are.” The council also adopted an ordinance amending Ordinance 18 of 2026 to appropriate an additional $226,398.55 from the Sewer Capital and Contingency Fund for repair of an 8-inch gravity sewer main at Lampkin and Berdeen Streets. Both items passed on voice votes with no recorded opposition.
Other final actions included amending the 2026 waterfront budget and authorizing Amendment No. 1 to the city’s claims service agreement with TriStar Claims Management Services, Inc. The council adopted a resolution authorizing Public Works to fill two labor positions and to backfill any vacancies created. The council also approved the Bossier Press-Tribune as the official journal for July 1, 2026–June 30, 2027, and approved the regular city council meeting schedule for the remainder of 2026.
Several items were introduced for first reading, including an ordinance to donate 11 Motorola XTS 2500 radios to Webster Parish Fire Protection District 8, a cooperative endeavor agreement with Red River FC, creation of an infrastructure capital fund, a proposed increase to the general fund balance floor from 15% to 25%, and an ordinance amending a 2021 ordinance to allow issuance of up to $15 million in public-improvement sales-tax refunding bonds.
Most votes were taken by voice and recorded on the record as “Aye.” The record does not show a rollcall tally for each motion in the transcript; members present indicated a quorum and the clerk announced motions carried. The meeting concluded with a remembrance for a recently deceased school-board member and the mayor introducing the city’s new public relations liaison.
