North Marion SD 15 honors long-serving staff; ASB president previews next school year

Chair read prepared statements recognizing Hilda Gonzalez for 29.5 years of service as an English-language instructional assistant and substitute-caller, Don Marberry for 19 years transforming family and consumer science classes and launching the ProStart culinary program, and Jill Collie for 31 years supporting district technology and serving as the district webmaster. Each honoree was thanked for decades of service and the board extended best wishes for retirement.
Jill Collie and family members offered brief remarks and light-hearted anecdotes about school technology challenges. The board presented gifts and applause.
An ASB student, speaking as the incoming ASB president, provided a report on elections and shared next-year plans: Vanessa Trulo will serve as vice president; senior president is Christian Delgado; junior president Mara Baras and sophomore president Mercedes Valerio were also announced. The student highlighted senior awards, band recognition at graduation, upcoming fall sports, clubs and plans to expand homecoming activities with a district parade and more frequent pep assemblies.
The board thanked the student leaders and retirees; no formal action was taken beyond the recognitions and expressions of gratitude.
