Mechanicsburg Borough Council approved two personnel items during its April 21 committee session: the hiring of a summer administrative intern at $15.00 per hour and the provision of 2026 pool passes for Borough staff.
Vice President Ron O’Neil moved to hire the intern and Councilman Joe Mina seconded; the motion passed unanimously. Manager Jessie Novinger said funding is available from a lapse in the Treasurer position and from the Treasurer salary budget line; she added that a candidate had submitted a résumé but the borough remained open to additional interviews.
Separately, Councilwoman Sara Agerton moved and Councilwoman Laura Martin seconded approval to provide 2026 pool passes to Borough staff. Manager Novinger said the program began as early as 2023 and that only about five passes were used in prior years. President Kyle Miller clarified that pool passes are designated for Borough staff only and are not to be issued to Borough Council members, elected officials or committee members. The council approved the pool passes request unanimously.
Both personnel actions were recorded as approved with no recorded votes by individual member name in the minutes.
