Williamsport recognizes Penn College senior, students for city rebrand work

Mayor Slaughter told the Committee of the Whole on June 9 that the city is recognizing Penn College senior Riley Shipman and a senior-level marketing class for producing a usable city rebrand.
"This resolution is recognizing Riley Shipman," Mayor Slaughter said, describing a yearlong project in which a 400-level marketing class worked with the city at the request of Dr. Rob Culie. He said professors Nick Stevenson and Todd TR brought real-world marketing experience to the students and that the class produced materials the city could use on "t-shirts, hats, billboards." Shipman did not attend the committee meeting and will be recognized at the full council meeting on Thursday.
The mayor said Dr. Culie has also supported other city efforts — including the bike-lane loop, pump track and the strategic plan — and commended the students' work as a tangible partnership between Penn College and the city. No questions were raised by committee members during the brief presentation.
The full council will consider the formal resolution and present print materials on Thursday.
