Hallandale Beach officials recess into attorney‑client session to discuss condominium association lawsuit

Nate, who called the meeting to order, announced that the City of Hallandale Beach would recess into an attorney–client session to discuss pending litigation. "We're about to have an attorney client session in accordance with Florida State statute 286.011 regarding a case of Towers of Ocean View East Condominium Association Incorporated versus the city of Hallandale Beach, case number CACE26040044399," he said.

Nate said the closed session was estimated to last no longer than a half hour and named the officials who would attend the conference: Mayor Joy Cooper; Commissioners Mike Butler, Joy Adams and Annabelle Lima Taub; City Manager Jeremy Earl; City Attorney Jennifer Moreno; and Maxine Streeter. The clerk conducted a roll call before the recess, recording Mayor Cooper and several commissioners as present and noting the vice mayor absent.

The announcement specified that the proceedings would be recorded by a certified court reporter and that the transcript would be made part of the public record "at the conclusion of all litigation," as stated in the meeting. The Commission recessed to a back conference room where only the named attendees were permitted.

Later in the meeting Nate announced the attorney–client session had terminated and the public meeting was reopened; the clerk invited members of the public to return for any further proceedings. No public vote or other formal action related to the lawsuit was recorded in the public portion of the meeting during the segments provided.
