Hamilton County Drainage Board members voted May 26 to approve a change order to permanently relocate an unpermitted private electric line discovered at the Habig soccer fields during the Mary Wilson Drain reconstruction.
Gary Duncan, Hamilton County Surveyor, told the board that crews temporarily restored the unpermitted line at project expense and that permanent relocation is required because a newly installed culvert conflicts with the existing crossing. The Surveyor presented three restoration options and said the lowest-cost option was estimated at approximately $9,815. Duncan noted that utility relocation is typically the responsibility of the landowner but presented the options to allow the contractor to complete work and avoid schedule delays.
Christine Altman moved to approve the lowest bid option as a contract change order; Steven C. Dillinger seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.
The board indicated the project is otherwise substantially complete, and a final walkthrough with the contractor will be scheduled. The Surveyor’s Office will track any future claims or follow-up needed to finalize the project closeout.
