Hamilton County Drainage Board approves batch of non-enforcement requests for fences, utilities and fiber

Hamilton County Drainage Board members unanimously approved a package of non-enforcement requests at their May 26 meeting, allowing a range of fences, utility pole replacements, fiber-optic installations and a lift-station on regulated drains after staff review.
Brad Newman, a member of the Hamilton County Surveyor’s Office staff, presented several requests including a Mercury Broadband fiber crossing on the M.E. Scherer Drain (parcel #04-02-24-02-11-008.00) and multiple requests from Becks Superior Hybrids for work in the Taylor Creek Drain. Emily Balke and Sam Clark presented additional requests, including pole replacements for Duke Energy and a proposed fiber run for Berry Comm near the Anna Kendall Drain. The Surveyor’s Office recommended approval for each request.
Christine Altman moved to approve the non-enforcement requests presented by staff; Steven C. Dillinger seconded and the motion carried unanimously. The approvals cover a mix of temporary and permanent encroachments that the office determined would not unduly affect regulated drain function when installed per the Surveyor’s recommendations.
The approvals were procedural and conditioned on the permits and installation measures described by staff. The Surveyor’s Office will continue to monitor the installations and follow up if field conditions change.
