Planning commission approves elevation waiver for Altitude trampoline park at Cross Town Drive

Peachtree City’s Planning Commission approved an elevation-waiver request June 8 for a covered outdoor attraction area at the Altitude trampoline park, located in the former Kmart garden center at 400 Cross Town Drive.

Staff presented the waiver request under Section 724 of the Land Development Ordinance, which allows the commission to waive architectural review when a proposed feature will not be visible from the public street. The staff recommendation said the proposed roof extension and new structure would be largely hidden from Cross Town Drive and met the ordinance requirement.

Charles Kilibru, the project architect with Onyx Creative, described the plan as an extension of an existing leanto structure and said the new structure would be heavier and built to shelter attractions including a miniature-golf-style course and thematic stations to support the trampoline park. Developer Ben Thomas and architect representatives also described modest finish changes and plans to retain and reconstruct low masonry walls and reuse metal fence elements while installing a vinyl-coated chain link farther back into the site.

Commissioners asked for renderings and materials. Several members said they would prefer to see a short, formal review if there are material changes; the applicant provided renderings during the meeting, and staff and applicant agreed the applicant would return to the commission if a substantial change is proposed. A motion to approve the elevation-waiver request passed by voice vote.
