The chair noted that some town departments, such as the Council on Aging, already have friends groups and suggested contacting those groups to learn from their experience.
Members also debated how to staff the town block party, scheduled for Aug. 29, ultimately preferring a modest, low-footprint presence—handing out brochures and rotating volunteers—rather than a large tent setup that would require staffing on a hot day.
Next steps: Assistant Town Manager Sean Walsh will draft a brief letter to recreation thanking staff for parallel outreach efforts; the commission will finalize brochure distribution plans and block-party staffing at a future meeting (the July agenda will include further discussion).
