Palmer councilors on June 8 authorized a veterans component to the town's senior work‑off program and debated raising income limits and senior payouts.
Rachel presented a proposal to raise the program's income eligibility thresholds (single and married limits were increased in the draft), increase the senior payout from $750 to $1,000 and reduce the total senior slots from 20 to 15 to free five openings for veterans. She told the council the proposed language includes a lottery if applicant demand exceeds slots and that participating seniors who provide services receive a W‑2 for earnings.
