Rockingham County Fire Chief says crews delivered 147,000 gallons after Elkton water outage

Chief Holloway said Rockingham County and Page County crews deployed five tanker units, delivering approximately 147,000 gallons of water to support the affected reservoir. To maintain service while repairs were planned, crews laid roughly 1,300 feet of five-inch hose across the river as a temporary supply line.
Holloway also reported on recent wildfire responses, saying prompt response times helped contain multiple fires. Board members praised the department’s efforts and discussed the importance of strategic station placement; Holloway confirmed that newer stations, including Fulks Run and Route 11 North, have improved coverage and response efficiency.
Board members and Holloway discussed long-term planning and fiscal pressures for emergency services, including equipment costs and staffing challenges. Holloway said these investments are critical to protecting life and property across the county.
