Rockingham supervisors adopt resolutions to add completed subdivision streets to state system; VDOT schedules April 28 hearings

The Rockingham County Board of Supervisors adopted two resolutions April 8 requesting the Virginia Department of Transportation add completed streets to the Secondary System of State Highways.
The first resolution asked VDOT to accept streets in Cobbler’s Valley Sections 2–5, stating the sections meet the Secondary Street Acceptance Requirements under Va. Code §33.2-705. The second resolution asked acceptance of Crowe Drive under Va. Code §33.2-1509 and §33.2-705. Both resolutions were adopted on motions by Supervisor Sallie Wolfe-Garrison and recorded by roll-call vote as approved by present members.
Donald F. Komara, Residency Administrator with VDOT, updated the Board on Route 33 bridge work, Route 11 sidewalk and fairgrounds improvements, and the shoulder widening project on Route 340. Komara said VDOT will hold two public hearings on April 28: the FY2027–2032 Six-Year Improvement Plan at the Plecker Center (4–6 p.m.) and the Shenandoah Valley Rail with Trail Assessment at the Plains District Community Center (5–7 p.m.).
