Jeff, a village staff member, described safety and accessibility issues in the Harbor Island Beach Pavilion red and blue rooms, saying floors are cracking and ceiling tiles and windows need replacement.
Bids returned were: Paraty Corp. $93,480 (lowest), Sierra Contractors $94,000, ZK1 Construction $147,000 and Mega Painting & Contracting $265,000. Jeff recommended Paraty Corp., noting prior work on a flood repair that was completed quickly and to satisfaction and that Paraty is on an existing BOCES contract.
Trustees discussed paying a portion from fund balance, noted the project is included in the capital budget, and mentioned approximately $60,000 of leftover downtown-improvement funds that could be applied if needed. No final award was recorded in the work session; Jeff said the item will be placed on tonight's legislative agenda for action.
Next steps: staff will present the recommendation and funding plan at the legislative meeting where trustees can authorize a contract award.
