Meredith Select Board approves reduced cemetery fees

The Meredith Select Board voted unanimously April 27 to adopt a revised cemetery fee schedule recommended by town staff and prepared by Cemetery Sexton Bob O'Neil.
The board opened a public hearing under RSA 41:9-a and reviewed a proposed price list that reduces fees for monument placement, grass-level markers, cremation graves and full graves. The fee table presented by DPW Director Craig Hale and Sexton O'Neil showed, for example, monument fees reduced from $500 to $200 and full graves reduced from $1,500 to $1,000. The board closed the hearing with no public comment and then approved the motion to adopt the new schedule, effective April 27, 2026, on a 4–0 roll-call vote (Aiken, Gregoire, Leighton, Pelczar voting yes).
Manager Judie Milner told the board staff recommended the changes after reviewing regional comparables and industry standards; DPW Director Craig Hale presented the pricing proposal prepared by Sexton Bob O'Neil. The minutes record that Vice Chair Jim Gregoire moved to approve the revised pricing and Selectperson Lynn Leighton seconded the motion.
The fee changes will be reflected in the town fee schedule; the board did not record any conditions or follow-up for this item at the meeting. Any implementation questions should be directed to the Department of Public Works.
The Select Board also approved routine minutes and other noncontroversial items later in the meeting. The board adjourned at 6:27 p.m.
