Council delays Lake Worth Road ordinance pending county interlocal agreement for Panther Run School segment

At the agenda review, staff requested postponement of Ordinance 2026-08, concerning transfer of authority over Lake Worth Road in front of Panther Run School, because the interlocal agreement with the county has not yet been finalized.
Staff said the interlocal agreement has been drafted and submitted to the county, and county staff tentatively scheduled Board of County Commissioners consideration for April 29; the village cannot complete second reading and final adoption without the county's concurrent actions and any required annexation consent.
"We do it together with the interlocal when it happens concurrently," staff said, explaining that even if the council approved second reading locally, the ordinance would not be effective without the county's consent. Council agreed to postpone the ordinance until county comments and the interlocal process are complete. Staff said they will bring the ordinance back when the county returns comments and the interlocal is ready for concurrent action.
Next steps: staff will await county comments and the BCC timetable, then return the ordinance for second reading and adoption when the interlocal agreement and annexation consent (if required) are aligned.
