Village of Wellington secures $50,000 FDACS forestry grant, matched locally for preserve canopy work

"We have a grant that we've just received, and it is $50,000 with a $50,000 match," Ms. Grove said. She added that FDACS has been supportive of similar programs and that staff will include the grant paperwork on the consent agenda for formal ratification (Resolution 2026-16).
Council members responded positively to the announcement. The grant will support planting and canopy restoration work in the preserve; staff did not provide a detailed project schedule during the agenda-review session.
