The Medina County Senior and Adult Foundation has approved a program to offer $50 farmers-market vouchers to Medina County residents aged 60 and older, the foundation announced at the county commissioners meeting Wednesday.
The vouchers will be available at Main Street Medina's red tent during farmers markets and at the Main Street Medina market this summer. The announcement noted the program provides one voucher per eligible senior for the season and that a proxy system is not in place; seniors who did not qualify for the state's voucher program can claim the county foundation voucher at the market.
"The sign up is this week or is it at every farmers market?" a commissioner asked. A foundation representative answered: "It will be at every farmers market. Get it once for the summer." The foundation and Main Street Medina are partnering on distribution.
What’s next: Seniors 60 and over should visit the Main Street red tent at the Medina Square market to claim vouchers; organizers plan to staff the tent at multiple market dates throughout the summer.
