Cherokee County approves IGAs, equipment purchases and E911 upgrade

At its Aug. 20 meeting, the Cherokee County Board of Commissioners approved multiple county manager items and intergovernmental agreements that the county manager said will maintain services and complete budgeted replacements.
County Manager Mr. Martin presented six items. The board approved an intergovernmental agreement renewing the lease for unmanned Fire Station 26 in the City of Nelson for a five-year term (expires Aug. 31, 2029) and an updated IGA with the City of Woodstock assigning maintenance responsibilities for roadways adjacent to city limits, with the city bearing maintenance costs and permitting duties.
The board also approved procurement and capital items: a $38,814.83 purchase order to Georgia Patio for replacement conference center patio furniture (funded from the conference center budget), authorization to purchase a Ford Bronco Sport SUV (not to exceed $31,000) and a Chevrolet Silverado pickup (not to exceed $47,000) for Recreation and Parks using SPLOST funds, and a $58,000 award to Talbot Tennis for repaving and resurfacing the inline roller hockey rink at Woodstock Recreation Center (CHILL will donate roughly $29,000 toward the project).
Finally, the board approved an amendment to the Motorola maintenance agreement for $44,356.40 to upgrade the Vesta 911 call‑handling system to be compatible with the incoming ESInet. "Vesta is the call handling system that receives 911 emergency calls and routes them," Mr. Martin said, noting the upgrade is necessary for the ESInet transition and will be paid from the E911 budget.
All items passed by unanimous voice vote. Where specific quotes or financial figures were presented, commissioners confirmed fund sources (conference center fund, SPLOST, E911 budget) and thanked partner organizations that contributed to projects.
