Kinnelon honors student representative Luca Fiorina and highlights athletic achievements, summer projects

At its June 9 meeting the Kinnelon Board recognized student representative Luca Anello Fiorina, presented middle-school character awards and coaches summarized spring athletic honors and upcoming summer facilities work starting the week of June 15.
The Kinnelon Board of Education presented a resolution recognizing outgoing student representative Luca Anello Fiorina for his contributions to the district and heard coaches and administrators highlight multiple athletic achievements and planned summer facilities projects.
Board members read a resolution thanking Luca for his service as the student representative and for his leadership at board meetings. Administrator remarks praised Luca’s academic and athletic record while the board presented a certificate.
Administrators and teachers presented PRM middle-school 'pillars of character' awards to named students, including Emma Bordendero (caring) and others honored for citizenship, respect, responsibility, trustworthiness and fairness. Kinnelon coaches reviewed spring-season results across track and field, tennis, golf, lacrosse, softball and baseball, noting sectional/state qualifiers, county placings and several school records. Coaches cited specific achievements — for example, a pole-vaulter clearing 13 feet, discus and long-jump records and multiple county champions — and commended staff and volunteers.
The board also outlined planned summer construction projects intended to begin the week of June 15, including culinary-arts facility work, art-room relocation, bathroom renovations, auditorium lighting and electrical upgrades, and patio and cafeteria paving. Administrators asked the public to expect some temporary access changes to the high-school rear road during construction. Graduation timing was also adjusted to reduce weather risk: PRM’s ceremony was scheduled at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday and the high-school seniors were to hold a final practice at 11:00 a.m.
Trustees approved a block roll-call vote that included the resolution honoring Luca and other routine agenda items (the vote was later rescinded and revoted for procedural clarity, then approved with the exception of one item held for further consideration). The meeting closed the public portion and the board entered executive session.
