Board approves consent package: personnel hires, contracts and program agreements

The Mechanicsburg Area School District board approved a consent agenda on June 9 that included personnel appointments, program agreements, contract awards and renewals.

Items approved by unanimous roll call included appointment of seasonal summer recreation staff; winter athletic appointments for 2026—27; athletic game help and worker fees for 2026—27; student services contracts; approval of teacher leaders and extra-duty advisers for 2026—27; appointment of school safety officers for 2026—27; retiree service contracts; substitute teacher compensation for 2026—27; and authorization for board officers to approve July invoice payments.

Facilities and contract items approved included a bid from Tarantula Excavating and Landscaping for high school sewer-line repairs. Instructional and partnership approvals included an agricultural science program agreement with Cumberland Valley School District for student placement and affiliation agreements with Western Governors University.

Personnel items included acceptance of the personnel report and the board's introduction of Hannah Carrington as the district's incoming pre-K accounts director. The board also approved job descriptions (payroll and benefits administrator) and the Act 93 administrative compensation agreement for 07/01/2026—07/30/2029; a board member (S12) described the Act 93 vote as a compromise balancing financial realities and employee wellness.

All consent items were approved with no recorded opposition on the transcript; the clerk recorded unanimous roll-call results for each motion.
