During the Feb. 10 work session, the Orange County Board of Commissioners confirmed several advisory-board appointments and reappointments by consensus and concluded the meeting with a unanimous adjournment vote.
Tara May introduced a recommended appointment to the Board of Health; the Board agreed by consensus to appoint Dr. Natalicio Serrano to an at-large partial term through June 30, 2027. The Board also agreed by consensus to appoint Theo Nollert (Chapel Hill Town Council nominee) and Fred Joiner (Carrboro Town Council nominee) to the Chapel Hill–Orange County Visitors Bureau Advisory Board. Joy Mercer and Daniel Rawlins were appointed to the Economic Development Advisory Board, filling current vacancies.
For the Planning Board, the Board reappointed Chris Johnston and Jonah Garson and appointed Ana Garcia Turner (Chapel Hill Township) and Othlone McCalla (At-Large) by consensus; the Board agreed to readvertise the Bingham Township vacancy due to few applicants. Commissioners debated nomination processes during the Planning Board discussion but ultimately reached consensus on the appointments.
The meeting concluded when Commissioner Earl McKee made a motion to adjourn, Vice-Chair Amy Fowler seconded, and the Board voted unanimously to adjourn at 9:30 p.m.
