The Snellville City Council on June 8 adopted Ordinance 2026-03, amending Chapter 46 (solid waste) to bring municipal code language into alignment with a recently negotiated sanitation contract.
Mayor Barbara Bender and staff explained the amendments were prompted by contractual changes with the city’s sanitation vendor. Council said some code sections still referenced a legacy “blue bag” program for extra garbage; under the current contract the city is standardizing on 95-gallon trash carts and phasing out the blue-bag option (pickup for existing blue bags will continue for a limited period).
Council moved and unanimously approved the ordinance 6-0. The mayor said the city will update municipal code language to match the contract provisions. No public comment was recorded on the ordinance at this meeting; the changes will be reflected in the updated city code.
