Board approves inter-department engineering agreement for Pony Hollow Trail; one member abstains

The Clayton County Conservation Board voted May 5 to enter into an inter-department agreement with the Clayton County Secondary Roads Department to provide engineering staff services for the Pony Hollow Trail extension.
Deputy Director Ean Popenhagen told the board that the agreement had been reviewed and approved by County Attorney Hermann, Director Jenna Van Meeteren and Popenhagen. Larry Stone moved to accept the agreement and Kris Lau seconded. The motion carried with Gary Kregel recorded as abstaining; other members voted in favor.
Board members discussed the division of responsibilities between departments but did not record conditions to the agreement in the meeting minutes. The inter-department arrangement is intended to supply engineering capacity for construction oversight and ensure coordination between road and conservation staff as the trail project moves into implementation.
The approval followed the contract award vote earlier in the meeting and aligns the county’s internal resources to support project delivery.
