Weiser Ambulance director plans November levy after repair costs and interim GEMT funding

Alan Foster, director of the Weiser Ambulance District, told Washington County commissioners on June 1 that the district will pursue a levy in November 2026 to address ongoing funding needs.
Foster presented payroll and general expense orders (Order No. 26-33, $23,679.37; Order No. 26-34, $7,987.18), both of which the board approved. He said recent repairs to an ambulance by Speed O Motive cost $4,109.46 and that he expects GEMT (Ground Emergency Medical Transportation) funding from 2023 of approximately $50,000 to be remitted to the district and to carry operations through January.
Foster said he plans to meet with consultant Erin Greaves and intends to place a levy on the November 2026 ballot; he requested formation of a steering committee to assist with planning and said he would compile a list of suggested members. Commissioners discussed existing appropriations for EMS within previous state legislation and the district’s budgeting process.
The board recessed as the Ambulance District to consider payroll and bills and later reconvened as the Board of County Commissioners.
