The committee voted to send four code-compliance cleanup cases to the full council for July consideration after a staff presentation that included cost details and ownership status.
Tyler Richie of community development and code compliance told the committee the properties were 313 East North Street (condemned in 2023; owner deceased, staff located a nephew who declined to assume responsibility), 1222 Cherry (repeat offender next to Angie Grant Elementary), 708 Burton Street and 1714 Huntley Road (Ralph Bunch area). Richie listed mowing charges ($220.88 for two of the lots and $470.88 for the other two) and explained that, per city practice, unpaid charges are added to property taxes and, after five years without payment, the tax lien process can lead to auction and recovery of costs.
A motion to forward the cleanup items to the council carried on a voice vote.
