Resident says hangar permit stalled while neighbor urges review of hotel parking rules

Alton Moore, who identified himself as working at the airport, told commissioners he built a 70‑by‑70 airplane hangar with a 65‑foot door but has been unable to obtain a permit for a second hangar. Moore said the prefab building and foundation are engineered but that staff repeatedly returned his site plan or requested an engineer’s sign‑off; he described the staff response as inconsistent and said, “I have a $100,000 worth of airplane hangers sitting outside in the rain.” Chair asked Moore to fill out a staff form and staff indicated they would follow up; no immediate regulatory remedy was announced at the meeting.
Linda Ayers, who lives in Lago Vista, asked the commission to review how the city’s parking ordinance treats large venues ahead of a council vote on a hotel project the following day. Ayers said the hotel sits on a roughly 7‑acre parcel and that parking-calculation methods differ for restaurants, meeting‑space venues and events where guests arrive and depart simultaneously; she warned that meeting‑space calculations used in some engineering guides might undercount stalls for event scenarios and suggested the council could use Planned Development District authority to require more parking if needed.
Chair thanked both speakers and noted the council has authority to adjust PDD minimums; commissioners did not take any immediate code changes at the meeting but noted the council will review related agenda items the following day.
