Planning commission approves minor wording change to tree-preservation rules

The Lago Vista Planning and Zoning Commission unanimously approved a staff-requested ordinance amendment to Chapter 14 (zoning ordinance), section 20 (pre-tree preservation and landscaping requirements), deleting the single word "pocket" from subsection e(7). Staff said the change was requested by council and the parks, recreation and conservation advisory committee (PRAC), and that public notices were posted appropriately.
"The request from council and PRAC is that we strike the word pocket. This ordinance does exactly that. No added fluff, no other terms and conditions," Jordan Stromeyer, Development Services staff, told the commission.
A commissioner moved to approve the ordinance amendment to strike the word "pocket," the motion was seconded and the commission voted unanimously in favor. Staff indicated the item is scheduled for City Council on June 4 if the council follows the commission's recommendation.
The motion and unanimous vote were recorded by voice; no roll-call roll was read during the meeting.
