Parks committee forms master-plan subcommittee, names members and sets meeting schedule

The committee proposed meeting on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays and set a tentative start of Jan. 29 at 4 p.m.; staff said they would make draft materials and prior data available in advance.
Committee members emphasized the subcommittee's advisory role and the need to base recommendations on both community input and existing demographic data. City staff and council liaison Karen encouraged committee members to use the city's packet, master-plan background documents and sample plans from other cities as starting points.
The committee did not vote on a final master plan at the meeting; instead the subcommittee will draft a straw-man update and return with recommendations and potential funding approaches to the full committee and council.
