David said the city has seen e-bikes in many neighborhoods and suggested an ordinance similar to the citys golf-cart rules could be considered; Karen, who the committee addressed by name, cautioned that state law sets limits on local regulation and recommended early coordination with police and the school district. Committee members proposed possible actions: conduct a school-district survey to measure student e-bike use, explore an e-bike park or repurposed public land (Bonanza), partner with local bike shops on safety training and certification, and refer a recommendation to City Council.
No ordinance was proposed at the meeting; members asked staff to continue outreach and return options to the committee and to Council for consideration.
