Buildings & Grounds staff presented two facility analyses and introduced administrative proposals at the Oneida County Facilities Committee meeting June 8.
Lindsey Kennedy, Buildings & Grounds, reviewed Law Enforcement Center water usage from 2020 through 2025 and highlighted significant water savings after the installation of an ICON water savings system; Kennedy stated the system has paid for itself through reduced water consumption and associated cost savings. Kennedy also presented an energy analysis covering 2016 through 2025 that credited LED lighting conversions with significant energy savings, while noting a trend of increased gas usage across county facilities.
Committee members discussed operational effects of temperature requests, with staff reporting some offices have requested thermostat settings as high as 76°F. Members agreed a formal temperature standard should be established so offices manage comfort expectations consistently and reduce energy consumption variability.
Separately, Kyle Kilbourn presented a packet proposing countywide communication and identity standards (logo/code templates) intended to be cost neutral and implemented on a rolling basis; Tracy Hartman recommended consulting department heads before returning the item for further discussion. The committee also received routine updates on project statuses — including the completed PH/ADRC roof replacement and receipt of a maintenance plow truck — and reviewed invoice-paid reports and the year-to-date 2026 budget.
