Executive Committee approves addition of NG9-1-1 GIS grant project to 2026 budget

The Oneida County Executive Committee voted unanimously June 3 to amend the 2026 budget to add an NG9-1-1 GIS grant capital project, allocating $209,229.02 to four GIS-related projects and requiring a 5% county match.

The request was presented by Chiamulera, who described the four projects included in the grant and the funding request. Rhodes said the IT quote for the server portion of the project expires June 14. Smigielski warned that "there is not enough in the contingency for this request; it would need to be added to the budget." Hartman questioned language in the resolution and noted the full grant-funded amount must be paid up front to fund the project.

Committee member Dan Hess moved, with a second from Ted Cushing, to approve the resolution and forward it to the County Board; the motion passed 7-0. The motion record and committee roll call were recorded as "Aye" from all seven members present. The resolution will be considered by the full County Board as the next step in securing the grant-funded work.

The committee and staff discussed funding sources and the timing constraints tied to vendor quotes; Rhodes reported he obtained the server quote directly from Lenovo. Smigielski emphasized the budget amendment requires adding the requested amount because contingency funds are insufficient to cover the county match and related expenses.

The County Board will receive the resolution for consideration; the committee did not take further action at the meeting to obligate funds beyond forwarding the amendment.
