Planning Board asks borough planner to study Block 66 for non‑condemnation redevelopment designation

The Planning Board on May 11 voted to ask the Borough Planner to prepare a redevelopment study for Block 66 Lots 7, 8, 9 and 10 to determine whether those parcels should be designated as a non‑condemnation redevelopment area under the redevelopment statute.
Attorney James Novello said Mayor and Council had asked the board to consider the designation. Member Charles Flenner moved to recommend that the Borough Planner prepare the study; Councilman Antonio Segalini seconded the motion and the board approved it. The motion was recorded in the minutes as approved.
The board did not adopt a redevelopment plan or make a designation at the meeting; the action authorized only a planner’s study to assess whether non‑condemnation redevelopment status is appropriate for the identified lots. The planner’s study will inform any future recommendation to Mayor and Council and any further board hearings or notices.
