Radnor board honors 13 retiring staff members, praises decades of service

At its June 9 regular meeting, the Radnor Township School District board honored 13 retiring employees representing a combined 355 years of service, recognizing long tenures and schoolwide traditions they helped sustain.

Superintendent Dr. Bachelor thanked the retirees and highlighted the district’s reliance on experienced staff, saying about “70% of our budget goes to salaries and benefits because it’s people.” Principals from multiple buildings introduced retirees and described their classroom and extracurricular contributions.

Joe McNamara, Radnor High School principal, introduced Chip Horner and said Horner’s mix of business and physical-education classes and readiness to step in for swim and pool duties made him “sorely going to be missed.” McNamara also read tributes to Ed Ruby, praising his social-studies teaching, sideline coaching and recognition as an educator-impact award recipient.

Kathy Pearsall, recognized for more than five decades in the district, addressed the board and community. She thanked colleagues and families, reflected on teaching multiple generations and said she will remain part of the community even after retiring.

The board presented a formal resolution honoring the retirees; members voiced unanimous support during the meeting. The resolution notes the retirees’ combined years of service and records the board’s appreciation in the proceedings.

The board’s acknowledgments included remarks from building leaders and a reception that preceded the meeting. The district also noted upcoming graduation activities, with commencement scheduled for June 10 at 4 p.m.
