The Jasper Common Council voted to award a contract for six microsurface paving projects to Pavement Solutions of Middletown, Indiana, for $178,304.16.
City staff reported that Pavement Solutions submitted the only responsive bid, quoting $4.89 per square yard for the main line and $6.00 per square yard for driveway approaches. Staff noted the bid covers both main-line and approach work and that the contractor proposed to begin work 60 days after receipt of written notice to proceed and to complete the projects by Sept. 15.
The presenter recommended accepting the Pavement Solutions bid, citing the company’s prior work for the city and the desire to include driveway approaches rather than treating only main lines. Commissioner Jeff Tising moved to accept the bid; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
City staff said the higher-than-anticipated total reflects the inclusion of numerous driveway approaches across the six projects and that funds remain available in the paving budget to proceed.
The contract award authorizes staff to finalize the agreement with Pavement Solutions and schedule the work within the vendor’s proposed timeline.
