Aiken County Transportation Committee defers discussion on E. Pine Log Road and DeLoach Way

The Aiken County Transportation Committee voted unanimously on Nov. 3 to defer consideration of an agenda item involving E. Pine Log Road and DeLoach Way until the parties meet with the South Carolina Department of Transportation to discuss alternatives. Member Garry Smith moved to defer the item and Tom Farmer seconded; all members present voted in favor.
The deferral suspends any committee action on the roads until the county and affected parties hold the planned meeting with SCDOT. Committee minutes state the item was deferred “after the people involved have met with SCDOT to discuss other options,” and that follow-up will return to the committee after that meeting.
The vote was recorded as unanimous among members present: Johnny Beam (chairman), Tom Farmer, Garry Smith, Michael Hall, Ronnie Caughman and Ken McDowell. The minutes do not record objection, abstentions, or conditions attached to the deferral.
The committee did not set a date for the follow-up discussion during the work session. The meeting began at 6:00 p.m. and adjourned at 7:02 p.m., and the minutes indicate that additional documentation related to other agenda items will follow the official minutes.
