County engineer: Phase I environmental assessment for Mushrush building raised no major concerns; grease trap to be addressed

Doug Bachman, Tuscarawas County Engineer, told the Board of Commissioners on June 1 that the Phase I environmental site assessment for the Mushrush building purchase found no significant issues.
"The assessment went very well, there wasn’t anything found to be wrong," Bachman reported, while noting that an above‑ground grease trap remains to be cleaned out.
Commissioner Kristin Zemis said the county is waiting for all funding to be secured, bonds to be issued if necessary, and final paperwork before closing the purchase and moving the Engineer’s Office into the new building.
Bachman’s remarks were presented to the Board as a formality to have the Environmental Site Assessment, Phase I, on the public record; no vote or additional action on the purchase was recorded during the session.
