Three members of the public addressed the Titusville CRA June 9 during petitions and requests, urging improved trail connections and downtown support and raising a separate safety allegation.
Tony Shifflo told the CRA that Titusville is "the convergence of three major regional systems: the Coast to Coast Trail, the St. John's to Seal Loop Trail, and the East Coast Greenway," and urged signage and amenities where the trail approaches the downtown railroad corridor. He said the convergence presents an opportunity to draw recreational tourists and suggested the CRA include wayfinding and support amenities for out-of-state riders.
Lisa Boer, a Main Street volunteer, said business owners on Broad Street and Baldwin Plaza welcome better connectivity and urged cleanup and beautification near the railroad tracks. She also asked whether Florida Department of Transportation signal timing and bike activation (beacon actuation) could be explored to make crossings easier for bicyclists.
Stan Johnson criticized the use of outside consultants and the cost of consultant work, and made an allegation about city operations: "What the city of Titusville has been doing is they have been disobeying rules of safety… It says 'sewage spray by the city of Titusville beginning December 2020.'" He asked the mayor to resign and offered monetary challenges to anyone who would publicly contradict his claim. The transcript records no staff response or evidence presented during the meeting to substantiate or refute that allegation.
The CRA record shows no formal action in response to these public comments during the June 9 meeting; staff and board members acknowledged the comments but took no immediate step recorded in the transcript to investigate the safety allegation.
