Trustees and district staff honored Superintendent EJ (Mr.) Rossi at the June 16 meeting as he prepares to leave the district. Board members and administrators described a career in the district beginning in 2007 that included roles as assistant principal, principal and assistant superintendent before his current assignment.
Several trustees offered personal stories and thanks for Rossi’s work supporting students and staff, noting his community outreach, leadership on LCAP and bond communications and a willingness to help new board members and administrators. One trustee said Rossi had been the district’s “utility player,” stepping in on technology, LCAP development, bond videos and other tasks; others described his accessibility and mentorship to staff.
The board also conducted an open‑session verbal summary of material terms for three executive employment agreements and approved those agreements in open session. The packet listed cabinet salaries and benefits; the assistant‑superintendent salaries were read as $181,228 and the superintendent salary figure was read from the packet (transcript includes a formatting anomaly for that number). Staff directed the public to the posted contract documents for complete, exact terms.
Rossi replied with gratitude and said he would miss the AUSD community and looked forward to the next chapter with his family. The board scheduled a July retreat and adjourned.
