Assemblymember Addis presented AB 27 31 to expand the number of Type 47 alcohol licenses in Santa Cruz County, proposing 12 additional licenses with six reserved for the city of Watsonville and six for other county communities. Jean Hurst, representing the Santa Cruz County Board of Supervisors and a co-sponsor, said the county has reached its population-based cap on general liquor licenses and new businesses must purchase licenses on the inflated secondary market. "We are seeking to support local businesses that help sustain our status as a must see California destination," Hurst said.
