Pinehurst residents press River Ridge CDD over repeated flooding; engineer ordered inlet cleaning

Pinehurst residents implored the River Ridge Community Development District Board of Supervisors on June 25 to make resolving long‑running neighborhood flooding their top priority after a June 12–14 storm left streets impassable and some drains running for days.
Resident Mike Dugan read a prepared statement saying Pinehurst residents are “galvanized in one voice” and warned that, “Short of a quick absolute commitment from River Ridge that Pinehurst flooding is now a #1 or co‑#1 priority, regardless of cost, we will be forced to explore legal options.” He said residents expect constant updates and many have offered financial support for fixes.
Ed Nowak, another Pinehurst resident, told the board the redesigned drainage system transferred problems from the Masters neighborhood to Pinehurst and urged a full redesign, saying, “The bottom line is the current redesigned system as far as we can see is flawed and unacceptable.” He described water bubbling from receivers and streets flooded to a safety concern one week after the storm.
District Engineer Charlie Krebs said he inspected Pinehurst after receiving video from PSGRC General Manager Eric Long. Krebs reported some grates were blocked and that MRI had already removed leaves and flushed debris from the pipes; he said some drains in Pinehurst may have more than 25% blockage and will need cleaning. Krebs committed to have MRI clean the inlets and pipes.
Chair Bob Schultz asked Krebs to prepare a written plan and an estimated timeline describing how the situation will be resolved and to provide that plan to the Board, Mr. Long and the Pinehurst neighborhood representative. Mr. Krebs’s immediate corrective steps and the board request for a formal plan followed residents’ demands for a higher priority response during hurricane season.
No formal board vote was taken on a redesign at this meeting; the engineer’s cleaning and the promised written plan were the principal near‑term actions recorded.
