Commissioners approve $300,000 IDOC pass-through for Wood Court program

Katie Avahouser, coordinator for the Bannock County Wood Court, asked the commission on June 9 to continue county pass-through of a $300,000 Idaho Department of Corrections award for fiscal year 2027. "We have been approved to receive $300,000 from the Idaho Department of Corrections to continue our program's funding for the fiscal year 2027," she said, and provided the award letter and budget materials to the board.
Avahouser described Wood Court’s origins and mission, saying it serves high-risk participants with co-occurring illnesses and seeks to reduce recidivism by offering treatment and structured supervision in the community. Commissioners commended several program graduations. The board moved to approve the chair’s signature on the award documents and voted in favor.
The commission’s action authorizes county staff to complete required paperwork to accept and pass the funds through to program administration. Avahouser said judges originally behind the program were unavailable and that she was presenting on their behalf. The county will execute the chair’s signature to finalize the award pass-through.
