Quincy council adopts AMJ annexation and rezones 56.9 acres to multifamily

The Quincy City Council voted unanimously Tuesday to adopt ordinance 26-644, annexing 56.9 acres identified as Parcel 200816000 (the AMJ annexation) and rezoning the parcel to Residential Multifamily (RM) under Quincy Municipal Code chapter 20.
Municipal service director Worley summarized the application, saying the property is currently designated agricultural and lies east of Jackrabbit Estates on Jackrabbit Street. Worley told council members the proposal would align the new parcel’s zoning with surrounding RM zones.
Councilmember (mover) voiced the motion to approve the ordinance and the motion was seconded; the council then voted in favor with no recorded opposition. The ordinance provides for annexation, assumption of existing indebtedness related to the property, adoption of the RM zoning designation and a date for the annexation to take effect.
The adoption followed a second public hearing on the annexation. With no substantive public testimony presented during the hearing and no additional council questions, members moved promptly to a vote.
The council’s action updates the city’s boundaries and zoning for the parcel; staff indicated the rezoning is intended to match neighboring residential multifamily designations.
