North Haledon council confirms 2023 board, committee and administrative appointments

The Borough of North Haledon's council unanimously concurred with Mayor Randy George's 2023 slate of appointments at the Jan. 3 reorganization meeting, approving professional appointments, board seats and committee chairs for the municipal year.

Appointments announced included professional roles such as Borough Attorney Michael P. De Marco, Borough Engineer Stephen T. Boswell, Borough Planner Michael F. Kauker, Borough Auditor Jim Cerullo, Tax Assessor Tim Henderson and Municipal Clerk Renate Elatab. The council also approved departmental and administrative assignments including the Municipal Housing Liaison and qualified purchasing and purchasing-related designations.

Board appointments named members of the Land Use Board (including Frank Coscia and Jerry Flach), the Board of Health (including Angelo Cifaldi and Linda Cava), and the Board of Library Trustees. The agenda also listed members of the Recreation Commission, the Public Events Committee, the Green Team, and representatives to Passaic County boards.

The council set committee leadership: Councilman Iacobelli was appointed president of the Board of Council (Iacobelli abstained from the vote to accept his own appointment), and committee assignments were distributed for public safety, finance, DPW/streets, buildings and grounds, engineering, insurance, codification review and other functions.

Emergency-management and municipal-alliance positions were also filled — Chief Todd Darby and Lt. Anthony Conforti were among those named to the Office of Emergency Management — and the council affirmed the Fire Department's internal appointments including AJ Ricciardi as Fire Chief and Anthony Padula as Assistant Fire Chief.

All presented appointments were approved by roll call vote and recorded in the minutes.
