Parks staff told council they received preliminary notice that about $500,000 may be available from the Recreation and Conservation Office (RCO) to support playground improvements at the South Loser Park ballfield complex.
Staff member Russ said the RCO correspondence indicated there may be leftover funds from the 2024 grant cycle that could be awarded to the city. "Looks like preliminarily, we, there was money left over from the 2024 grant cycle... we potentially could be getting money from a $500,000 grant for the playground system out at the South Loser Park Ball Fields complex," he said.
Russ said staff are scheduling a meeting with the RCO grant coordinator to learn details and figure out how to make the funding work. No formal application action or match-funding decisions were recorded during the meeting; staff said they will report back to council with more information.
