Quincy’s city council approved Change Order #1 to Stetner Electric Inc. for $30,095.26 to complete the B Street Southeast lighting upgrade.
Engineer Bolino told council the additional cost stems from unanticipated electrical work after the Public Utility District said it could not support the originally planned power source near Central Avenue and B Street Southeast. "Originally, the power source we anticipated is from the 2 light poles ... but when we had the PUD come over to take a look at it, they said it's not gonna support the new lights that we're going to install," Bolino said. As a result, the contractor must extend power from a nearby transformer, add conduits, wires and panels and perform additional labor.
A council member moved to approve the change order in the amount of $30,095.26; the motion was seconded and the council voted in favor by voice. No roll-call breakdown was recorded in the transcript.
What this means: the change order funds the electrical adjustments necessary to light the new poles and proceed with activation once power is established and utility billing/agreements are in place.
Next steps: staff will coordinate payment to the PUD and arrange to energize the lights.
