Commissioners authorize county to sign Springs Valley water-tank grant forms

Tucker Laws presented the application forms and explained the work would include demolition of the buried 3,800-gallon tank, construction of a new 50,000-gallon above-ground tank, site piping and driveway work, a concrete pad, and electrical and control equipment. The forms included a local match commitment; Mr. Laws said the $553,000 local match would be provided from Springs Valley Regional Water District funds and that the county agreed to be the applicant because the water district could not apply directly.
The board moved, seconded and unanimously approved the request to sign the forms and authorized Marshall and Sandy to execute the documents.
Why it matters: The work aims to increase storage capacity and improve system reliability for the Springs Valley service area. Because the county served as applicant, the commissioners' signatures are necessary to proceed with the state application.
What’s next: Region 15 staff and Springs Valley will submit the application to the Office of Community and Rural Affairs; county staff will execute the forms as authorized at Tuesday's meeting. The motion authorized signature and application submission but did not represent final construction approval or a county appropriation beyond providing the signature block for the application.
