Emmet County approves Mediacom permit, awards fuel contracts and signs routine county agreements

At its June 9 meeting, the Emmet County Board of Supervisors approved several routine but consequential operational items, including a utility permit for Mediacom, awarding fuel and LP contracts, approval of claims and adoption of a contract for actuarial GASB 75 services.
On a motion by Supervisor John Pluth seconded by Supervisor Jeff Quastad, the board approved a Mediacom utility permit to install facilities along County Road A34 (230th Street) from State Highway 4 west roughly 2,400 feet. The motion carried unanimously.
The board considered fuel letting bids presented by Allison Fisher and Travis Fredericksen and awarded the low bid to New Century FS for bulk fuel, $385,271.20, and for liquefied petroleum (LP) 7,500 gallons at $8,992.50. The motion to accept the low bid was made by Pluth and seconded by Todd Glasnapp; the minutes record unanimous approval.
The board approved June bills (part one) on a motion by Tim Schumacher, seconded by Todd Glasnapp, and separately approved June drainage claims (motion by Jeff Quastad, second by Tim Schumacher); both carried with all supervisors voting aye. The board also approved conference fees of $322.50 for Zoning Director Steve Hallgren (motion by Pluth, second by Glasnapp) and approved the Nyhart GASB 75 contract for FY26 and FY27 (motion by Glasnapp, second by Schumacher).
Dan Burton provided a bridge update on A17, noting a cofferdam on the east pier and that the old bridge had been removed. The meeting adjourned at 10:39 a.m.
